The project began by studying the Chiang Mai, Thailand, and its surrounding, noting the rise of single-family homes and gated communities due to highway and ring road expansions. Through the analysis of four villages, a significant trend emerged: the rapid growth of gated developments has disrupted the organic evolution of riverside villages and fragmented the rice fields between 1950 and 2020. This led to a central question: What if the in-between spaces act as connectors, bridging urban development with the existing villages? This inquiry became the foundation for exploring architectural interventions that harmonize growth with the cultural and environmental fabric of the region.
